AIOS-OKAT Module 1 MCQ Course: Foundational Knowledge

WHY THIS COURSE EXISTS

AIOS-OKAT Module 1 tests Foundational Knowledge — Basic Sciences, Optics, Refraction, and clinical examination methods — across 150 MCQs in 150 minutes, mapped precisely to the AIOS National Curriculum for Ophthalmology Postgraduate Training.

Nothing else on the market was built specifically for this module, this curriculum, or this exam.

India's newest ophthalmology exam deserves more than a leftover question bank — this is the first course made for it.

THE COMPLETE OFFICIAL MODULE 1 PORTION — AND WHAT WE COVER

Basic Sciences

  • Ocular anatomy and embryology
  • Ocular physiology and biochemistry
  • Ocular pharmacology
  • Ocular microbiology and immunology
  • General pathology relevant to ophthalmic disease

Optics & Visual Sciences

  • Geometric and physical optics — reflection, refraction, prisms, lenses
  • Optics of the eye — schematic eye, aberrations, accommodation
  • Spectacle and contact lens optics, including toric and cross-cylinder principles
  • Instruments — keratometer, focimeter, slit lamp, direct and indirect ophthalmoscope, retinoscope, tonometers, synoptophore, and other clinical optical instruments

Examination Techniques

  • Slit-lamp examination — diffuse, focal, and retroillumination (direct/indirect), sclerotic scatter, specular reflection, staining modalities and interpretation
  • Fundus evaluation — direct/indirect ophthalmoscopy, fundus drawing, three-mirror examination, 78D/90D/60D lens examination, Amsler charting

Basic Investigations

  • Tonometry — applanation, indentation, non-contact
  • Gonioscopy — indentation technique, anterior chamber angle grading
  • Tear and lacrimal function tests — staining, Schirmer test/TBUT, syringing, dacryocystography
  • Cornea — scraping and smear preparation (Gram's/KOH), keratometry, pachymetry, corneal topography
  • Color vision — Ishihara, Farnsworth-Munsell
  • Refraction — retinoscopy, Jackson's cross-cylinder, subjective and objective refraction, glasses prescription
  • Squint assessment — motility examination, synoptophore, Hess/Lees screen, diplopia charting, cover tests, prism bar technique, amblyopia diagnosis, convergence/accommodation/stereopsis/suppression testing
  • Exophthalmometry
  • Contact lenses — fitting and assessment, over-refraction, complications
  • Low-vision aids

Investigative Modalities (must interpret)

  • Fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, ocular ultrasound (A-scan/B-scan), automated perimetry, OCT, ultrasound biomicroscopy, ERG/EOG/VEP, corneal topography

WHAT'S INSIDE THIS COURSE

Every item above is covered as an applied clinical vignette — not a flat definition — including a dedicated set of image-based questions built from real clinical photographs: gonioscopy views, fluorescein fitting patterns, keratometer mires, sclerotic scatter, exophthalmometry readings, and Ishihara plates. Every question is mapped to the official AIOS National Curriculum — nothing generic, nothing guessed.

WHY OPHTHAMCQ, SPECIFICALLY

  • We didn't adapt — we built from scratch. This isn't an ICO or FRCS bank with an OKAT label stapled on. Every question started from the AIOS National Curriculum itself, cross-referenced against ICO Advanced materials specifically to catch what generic banks miss. This is the first and only course built specifically for AIOS-OKAT — not adapted, not borrowed.
  • We've sat the exam ourselves. The team behind this course has personally taken and cleared OKAT — we know exactly what the exam asks, not just the subject matter it draws from.
  • We checked our own coverage against the curriculum, item by item. No topic was included because it "seemed relevant" — every checklist line from the official syllabus was tracked until covered.
  • First-attempt-focused, because OKAT rewards it. Since OKAT weighs first-attempt scores for honours and awards, our questions are calibrated to real exam difficulty from day one.

THE STAKES ARE REAL

OKAT scores aren't just a number — top-10 first-attempt scorers in each module win AIOC registration and travel awards, and your score factors directly into AIOS National and International Fellowship and Travel Grant selection. First-attempt performance matters. This course is built to get that first attempt right.
